Innovate for Impact Challenge Opens Applications to Empower Africa’s Agri-Tech Startups
With Africa’s AgTech sector projected to grow rapidly, initiatives like the Innovate for Impact Challenge are critical to unlocking innovation and investment with African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa. 

African agri-tech startups have been invited to take part in the 2026 Innovate for Impact Challenge. This program is offering a total of $65,000 cash prizes for early-stage ventures that tackle food security and sustainability. 

This 2026 Innovate for Impact Challenge, is hosted by the World Prize Foundation in partnership with America’s Cultivation Corridor which is a global competition targeted at accelerating agricultural technology (AgTech) innovation. Primarily set up for early-stage agri-tech companies that are developing transformative solutions for Africa’s food systems. 

Founded to spotlight “impactful innovation with the power to transform global agriculture,” the Innovate for Impact Challenge debuted at the 2024 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue and has since attracted a global roster of participants. African companies, including an agri-tech company based in Nigeria, earned finalist status in previous editions, highlighting the increasing power of innovations emerging from the continent's agricultural ecosystem.

Application are now open which will span till the 15th of April 2026, offering participating startups a chance to compete for a total prize pool of more than US $65,000. While a sum of $50,000 will be awarded to the best innovator, $10,000 for the second place and $5,000 for the third place, while additional funds will be given to the runners-up to support the research and implementation of their solutions.

Primarily to establish and expand startups that make use of technology to boost farming systems, from production and logistics to climate changes and food distribution. The Innovate for Impact Challenge is for early-stage agri-tech companies from all over the continent are invited to submit their innovations for evaluation based on factors such impact potential, sustainability, scalability, and market relevance.
