Sparte Robotics Pioneers Autonomous Marine Drone for Port Surveillance in Cameroon
Sparte Robotics unveils the Atawi-3A3 marine drone in Douala, offering autonomous port surveillance and environmental monitoring to strengthen Cameroon’s maritime security and innovation ecosystem.

Cameroonian startup, Sparte Robotics has announced its launch of the Atawi-3A3, an autonomous marine drone targeted to build port surveillance and environmental monitoring. This launch was supported by the Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK), which oversees Atawi-3A3 as a valuable tool for protecting port infrastructure and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

The unveiling which took place in Douala was during the COCKTECH innovation event, marking a milestone in Cameroon’s growing high-tech industrial ecosystem.

According to Sparte Robotics CEO Jacques Eonè, noted that,

“The innovation represents a new step in Cameroon’s drive to develop locally engineered solutions for global challenges.”

Built by young Cameroonian engineers, the drone is adaptable for multiple use cases, including maritime logistics and environmental management. The modular drone can also be used for bathymetric surveys and coastal mapping, which greatly expands its potential for marine research and infrastructure development. Sparte Robotics is also looking into specific partnership with technological companies for advancement in order to improve its AI and data-processing capabilities.

This development by Sparte Robotics’ could position Cameroon as a regional leader in marine drone technology, opening opportunities for export and collaboration across Africa’s coastal economies.

The reveal highlighted Cameroon's goal of employing traditional technological skills to address environmental and maritime issues with domestic solutions. Innovations like the ATAWI-3A3 could help with affordable solutions for improving shipping operations and protecting marine ecosystems as environmental risks and security concerns put increasing pressure on ports throughout Africa.
