London-based biotech startup Eterna Regeneratives has raised $4 million in seed funding to advance a regenerative technology that could help repair damaged tooth enamel and, eventually, regenerate bone.
The round was led by Hoxton Ventures and The Venture Collective. The capital will fund the development of its technology. Eterna said laboratory testing on extracted teeth produced an enamel-like layer with hardness and mechanical strength approaching that of healthy enamel.
The company is targeting oral care, with potential applications including toothpaste and mouthwash, before expanding into bone regeneration.
The deal shows the growing investor interest in biotech platforms developing alternatives to conventional approaches to tissue repair.
For Black and Brown founders, Eterna’s funding reflects opportunities within the UK’s deep-tech and life-sciences ecosystem, where access to capital can help translate university research into commercial products.
The startup plans to expand its research and commercial teams as it works towards its first product.
