Rivia, a Ghana-based e-health startup focused on improving service quality in the healthcare sector, has announced the acquisition of Waffle, a local SaaS startup specializing in software solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
Founded in January, Rivia has been working closely with clinics to enhance patient care quality and expand their reach in the healthcare industry. By providing comprehensive support in customer acquisition, financing, and technology, Rivia aims to revolutionize the healthcare landscape in Ghana and beyond.
Operating primarily in Ghana with plans for expansion into West and East Africa, Rivia offers partner clinics a robust hospital management system. This system facilitates various tasks such as patient appointments and bookings, records management, payment collection, and lab and pharmacy operations. Additionally, Rivia provides financial assistance to clinics for infrastructure upgrades and inventory augmentation.
With the acquisition of Waffle, a Ghanaian SaaS company known for its hospital and inventory management software, Rivia aims to bolster its technological capabilities. Waffle's founder, Victor Nara, has joined Rivia as its chief technology officer, bringing valuable expertise to the team.
Under the rebranded name RiviaOS, the platform offers a comprehensive suite of features, transforming it into a healthcare-as-a-service (HaaS) solution. This includes appointment scheduling, booking engines, service storefronts, video consultations, e-pharmacy services, e-lab functionalities, vitals capture, billing management, expense tracking, revenue management, and inventory management. Moreover, RiviaOS leverages AI-powered health diagnosis on demand, ensuring cost-effective and efficient healthcare delivery.
The acquisition of Waffle is expected to expedite the digitization efforts of Rivia's network of primary care clinics and streamline the company's operations. CEO Isidore Kpotufe expressed confidence in the collaboration, highlighting Victor Nara's entrepreneurial prowess and technological acumen.
Commenting on the acquisition, Victor Nara expressed pride in Waffle's achievements and excitement about joining forces with Rivia. He emphasized the alignment of vision, values, and culture between the two companies, making the decision to merge a natural progression.
With this strategic acquisition, Rivia is poised to strengthen its position in the e-health sector, offering innovative solutions to improve healthcare delivery and accessibility in Ghana and beyond.
