Manchester-based payments firm Ryft has raised £20 million in a Series B round after tripling in size, giving the fintech fresh capital to accelerate international expansion.

The funding was led by Gresham House Ventures, with participation from existing backers Pembroke VCT and Ingenii Capital, alongside the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.

Ryft provides payment infrastructure for marketplaces, platforms and multi-location businesses. The company says its processing volumes have tripled over the past year, while its customer base has grown to more than 6,500 businesses.

The new investment will support expansion into Europe and the US, alongside further product development.

Ryft is also seeking a full EU payments license in Malta as it builds its presence across European markets.

For Black and Brown businesses, particularly those building digital marketplaces or cross-border commerce platforms, Ryft’s growth shows growing demand for payment infrastructure that can handle complex transactions across multiple markets.
