Saudi Arabian payment technology company EdfaPay and Sudanese IT firm GoPravo launched SDPay, a joint venture focused on digital payments and financial services across Sudan.
The company plans to provide QR-code payments, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, online payment gateways, and payment processing services. It will also offer digital wallets, payment cards, bill payments, payroll integrations, and international remittances.
SDPay combines EdfaPay’s payment technology and engineering capabilities with GoPravo’s local market expertise, licenses and business relationships.
The company will also offer application programming interface integrations, electronic customer verification, fraud monitoring and financial settlement tools to banks and other institutions.
Chief executive Mohamed Elhag said the venture aims to connect financial systems that often operate separately, including banks, digital wallets, telecommunications operators and government collection platforms.
For Black entrepreneurs and businesses operating in Sudan, the platform could provide additional digital payment options for collecting customer payments, managing transactions, and receiving money from international customers, depending on service availability.
